Looking north towards Winchester, this photograph of Bournemouth Rd was taken in 1950. The building in the centre of the picture (which was the old post office until the 1940's) is the offices and showroom of the Gas Company and stands on the site of the present day Hursley Rd roundabout. The shops on the left are 'The Parade', built in the 1930's and still very much in use to this day, although, of the original list of trades only the butcher remains.
